About Channel 37 Online

Just one website nerd doing their thing.

Behind Channel 37 Online is one developer, a whole lot of WordPress experience, and a habit of getting curious about how things work. What started as an interest in building websites turned into a business built around solving problems, figuring out the tricky stuff, and making the process a little less complicated for everyone involved.

*Cue the backstory*

Because websites should be functional, not frustrating.

Channel 37 Online was born out of love, and spite. After working for a large web hosting company and hearing one too many horror stories about broken websites and bad developer relationships, it became pretty obvious there was room for a different kind of web company. One where technical skill, creativity, clear communication, and actually caring what happens after launch all matter.

Plot twist: it became a business

A small operation with serious WordPress experience

That experience shaped what Channel 37 Online is today: an independent WordPress development business built for companies and agencies that need experienced technical help without a bloated process. The work spans complete builds, redesigns, troubleshooting, integrations, migrations, performance, technical SEO foundations, and ongoing support.

So who's driving this thing?

The human behind the websites.

I’m Shelby, a Phoenix-based WordPress developer who has been obsessed with computers for literally as long as I can remember. That eventually turned into studying programming, networking, web design, and development. That was followed by years of hands-on work building, fixing, managing, and troubleshooting websites.

Shelby, the WordPress developer behind Channel 37 Online.

My background spans freelance, contract, in-house, and agency environments, working with businesses across a wide range of industries. WordPress is my main playground, but my work regularly stretches into integrations, migrations, performance, accessibility, technical SEO foundations, analytics, troubleshooting, and whatever strange thing the site has decided to do that day.

I like the technical side of the job, but I also care a lot about making the process easier for the people on the other side of it. Clear communication, practical decisions, and websites that stay manageable after launch matter just as much as getting the code right.

Basically, websites take up an unreasonable amount of my brain space. When they don’t, there’s a decent chance I’m checking out a local brewery or restaurant, messing with old technology, or parked in front of the TV with a cold beer and a cat or two.

Real-world WordPress experience

Learned a few things along the way.

Turns out, working on websites for years teaches you a thing or two. From development and technical troubleshooting to the systems and processes that keep projects on track, there's plenty of real-world experience behind the work. And plenty of lessons learned from figuring things out the hard way.

WordPress development since 2017

Years of working with WordPress means building websites, untangling technical problems, and occasionally wondering why something that worked yesterday has suddenly changed its mind. There's always something new to figure out, and that's part of the fun.

Direct client and agency experience

From working one-on-one with business owners to handling development behind the scenes for agencies, no two projects work quite the same way. Good communication, realistic expectations, and actually following through make everyone's life a whole lot easier.

Technical support and troubleshooting background

When a website starts acting up, throwing more code at it isn't always the answer. Tracking down plugin conflicts, layout issues, and other technical headaches starts with figuring out what's actually wrong, not just making the symptoms disappear.

Builds, redesigns, integrations, and ongoing support

Some projects start with a blank slate. Others arrive with years of plugins, questionable decisions, and a few mysteries nobody wants to claim. From new builds and redesigns to integrations and ongoing support, there's plenty of experience working with both.

What happens if my WordPress website needs help after launch?

Post-launch support can include updates, repairs, monitoring, and small content changes, depending on the project arrangement. Ongoing WordPress maintenance covers routine updates and preventive site care.

Do you use AI when building WordPress websites?

AI can be useful for research, drafting, and repetitive development tasks, but the finished website still requires human review, real-world testing, and accountability for the work delivered. WordPress development includes implementing features and testing them in the context of the full website.
